Creative weaving workshops for children, designed together with the Manggha Museum of Japanese Art and Technology in Kraków and held as part of the Japanese Children’s Day — Kodomo no hi. The festival has a long tradition in Japan.
It is a day of special wishes of health and good fortune for the youngest, and an occasion to underline their particular place in society.
The session began by introducing the children to Buddhist tales, opening up a different but fascinating culture. All participants then learned Dottka, my own technique of weaving on cardboard. Everyone could try the creative task of weaving Buddhist symbols of good fortune. The workshops accompanied „Bogactwo umysłu” (Riches of the mind), an exhibition of Himalayan art.
